On Saturday, my incredible mother-in-law, Jen, threw me a yoga baby shower - and I can't explain how happy it made me!
The heart of Canton, Josh's hometown, has an adorable yoga studio called The Yoga Loft on Main Street. It has beautiful antique brick walls and hardwood floors. It's small interior gives it a unique ambiance that allows you to feel connected to everyone in the room. The past few times I've been to Canton, I have been able to attend prenatal yoga classes there led by a woman named Sarah. She can be found at www.mamabirthyoga.com! Her classes are so empowering and I am still searching for a class like hers in Austin.
When I told Jen how much I enjoyed Sara's classes, she had the amazing idea to have my New York baby shower in the Yoga Loft! We planned for an hour of yoga, led by Sara, and an hour of snacks, games, and opening gifts (see below:) !
Jen used a lot of neutral decorations including burlap, galvanized rustic bins, wooden frames - and blue, of course! She couldn't have decorated more fitting to my taste and the yoga themed shower that it was.
As for snacks, we stuck with healthy choices. Jen kept yogurt in mason jars cold with ice in a metal bucket. The fix-in's for the yogurt included granola, blueberries, chocolate chips, craisins, pretzels, and of course - maple syrup and maple butter! There were yummy fruit kabobs with strawberries, watermelon, and cantaloupe. We also had a spread of blueberry muffins (lovingly provided by Mary Parker :) and maple, banana-oat, chocolate chip muffins - made from a recipe Parker Maple posted a couple of weeks ago! (Find it here).
The other table was set up with fun things like a baby arrival date prediction calendar - each person stamped the date they thought Rhett would come with a little blue baby foot stamp. We had Rhett's sonogram picture and his name in blue building blocks.
Jen even had an antique baby cradle filled with cards each person attending left "baby advice" on - love!
I was so happy to see everyone who came and so thankful for all of the amazing gifts we received!
With each gift I got to open, I became more and more excited for Rhett's arrival.
I can't express the love I have for my New York family. I will remember this day forever - and can't wait to show these pictures to Rhett!
